Island Friendship in Orkney

Life in the Orkney Islands is close knit, with wide skies, sea views and ancient history at every turn. WidowHearts offers widows and widowers on the islands a discreet, friendly way to meet new people, which can matter in a small community.

Whether you live in Kirkwall, Stromness or on one of the smaller isles, you can sign up free and simply start talking. Some members will be nearby and others further away, so take as long as you need before any meeting.

Historic Places to Share

St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall was begun in 1137 and built from red and yellow sandstone. It is the most northerly cathedral in the UK. On the west coast of the Mainland, Skara Brae is a Neolithic village on the Bay of Skaill, occupied for around six centuries from about 3180 BC.

The Ring of Brodgar, part of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, still has 36 of its original 60 stones and is open all year. Walking around it on a calm evening is a memorable outing. To see more people, look at members around Scotland.
