Scenic Spots for a First Meeting
Above Oban harbour, McCaig's Tower on Battery Hill was begun in 1897 and left unfinished. Entry is free, and its granite walls shelter a garden with benches and views over the Firth of Lorn towards Mull and Kerrera.
Near Dunoon, Benmore Botanic Garden is one of the specialist gardens of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, with an avenue of redwoods planted in 1863. In Helensburgh, the National Trust for Scotland cares for The Hill House, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Island life can feel remote, so members from around Scotland may be worth a look too.
