Coast and Heritage Near Sligo Town
About 4km from Sligo town, Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery has more than 30 surviving tombs dating back almost 6,000 years, with Knocknarea rising behind. Sligo Abbey, a Dominican friary founded in 1253, stands in the town itself and opens seasonally.
