Gardens, Bogland and Ancient Stones
Birr Castle Demesne has gardens with over 5,000 plant species across 120 acres, as well as the Great Telescope, completed in 1845. On the River Shannon, Clonmacnoise was founded by St Ciaran in 544, and the site has three high crosses and two round towers.
