In Saint Louis, Forest Park covers 1,326 acres, hosted the 1904 World's Fair and is home to a free zoo. The Missouri Botanical Garden opened in 1859 and includes a Japanese strolling garden around a four acre lake. In Kansas City, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art offers free admission every day, with giant shuttlecock sculptures on its lawn.
